I found something on tumblr once that goes kinda like this (sorry, I don’t remember what it was exactly):
me: What are taxes and how do I pay them?
school: Shh. Learn to solve the quadratic equation.
And now I have proof. This is probably the most brilliant argument I have ever seen against our schooling system.
I’m trying to memorize it, so at any time in my life I can use this against other people and see how many counterarguments they can come up with. You know, the normal stuff.

Because abstract maths was deemed more important than advice that could literally save thousands of lives.
But it’s cool, because now I can tell you if the number of unnecessary deaths caused by that choice was prime.
